I’m from New York, which means my food standards are unreasonably high. And let’s be real—the reputation of the Denver food scene being trash isn’t exactly an understatement. But every so often, a gem emerges, and suddenly, I find myself dreaming about it for days. These are the spots I’ll keep going back to—because they’re that good.

1. Osteria Marco
Great Italian, full stop. Skip their pizza (trust me on this) and head straight for the pastas and entrees. I haven’t had a dish I didn’t like, but the tiny bowl of “side pasta” they throw in with every entree? It has the best red sauce I’ve ever had. Who knew perfection came in a small bowl?
2. Safta
If there’s one thing Denver desperately needs, it’s authentic Mediterranean food. But Safta? It almost makes up for the lack. Bring all your friends, order all the things, and sip and split all night long. The dips are the star of the show—get them all. If you only have time (or stomach space) for one thing, let it be the dips.
3. Hampton Social
Okay, I know it’s a chain, and I’m usually not about that life, but hear me out: the lobster roll. They are doing it right. Everything I’ve had on the menu has been solid, and the vibes are perfect for cocktails with the gals. My only gripe? The wine list could use a little love, but when in doubt, order an espresso martini and call it a day.
4. La Merise French Bistro
Catch me here with a dirty martini, a plate of mussels, and a lamb shank to share. Bonus points for their salmon, which is chef’s kiss. The cozy French vibes in this downstairs bistro make it feel like a hidden gem. Perfect for date night or a cozy dinner with friends.
5. Rioja
Let’s start with the SERVICE (yes, I’m yelling). It’s next-level good. And the bread service? Fun and delicious—it deserves a standing ovation. Any place that leads with bread automatically earns extra points from me. Every dish we tried was spot-on (and we tried them all). This place is a true win.
6. Nana’s Dim Sum
WOW. An Asian restaurant making my list is rare (I’m a sucker for meat and potatoes), but Nana’s really blew me away. Bring a group so you can share everything. The soup dumplings were the undeniable star, but honestly, every dish we tried was exceptional.
Honorable Mentions
Need a spot to take your mom when she’s in town? These are consistent and so, so good:
Venice
Undici
Adelitas Cocina Y Cantina
Jovanina’s Broken Italian
Denver may not have the culinary clout of New York, but these restaurants have earned a permanent place in my rotation. Whether you’re craving Italian, Mediterranean, French, or a stellar dim sum experience, these are the spots that truly deliver.
